  Phormium 'Apricot Queen' in water

Phormium Apricot Queen growin in water in the nursery garden
Phormium 'Apricot Queen' planted as an aquatic plant in our garden

In this planting a large cement container with Phormium 'Apricot Queen' in it has been partially submerged in one of our water gardens. This planting is over 5 years old at this time and the plant is only about 2 feet tall. In their natural habitat Phormium are often found along streams or lakes. We have found most cultivars are tolerant of wet soils and water gardens as long as the crown of the plant is above the water level.
