Clivia 'Nakamura Red' was a selected seedling grown at our nursery from seed purchased as "Nakamura Interspecific" seed in April 2001 from Connie & James Abel of Pretoria. It reportedly came off of a selected plant from Japanese Clivia breeder Yoshikazu Nakamura - for more information about this parent species and the other cultivars of it we grow see Clivia miniata. We were still building stock on this plant when we decided to close the nursery at the end of 2025 and so in 2024 we named the plant Clivia 'Nakamura Red' and first released our stock plants for sale in 2025.
