Cyperus alternifolius 'Gracilis' (Miniature Umbrella Plant) - This is a smaller version of the species growing about 2 feet tall with less tendency to flower and therefore reseed. The leaf-like bracts top the flowering stalk, and are arranged spirally, spreading outward and slightly downward like the ribs of an umbrella. Grow in or out of water, in pots, or even in an irrigated dry stream bed. It is hardy to about 20-25 degrees F.
