Plant in sun or shade and water regularly. It is hardy to about 20-25 degrees F, but foliage and flowers will freeze back by frost.

Dahlia 'Timothy Hammett' came to us from New Zealand plant breeder Keith Hammett who named this plant for his son. We grew this attractive and vigorous plant in 2006 and 2007 but have since discontinued producing it because it was too difficult for us to maintain in a presentable form as a container plant. Our garden plant was also severely damaged in the 2-week January 2007 cold spell when we had 12 nights below freezing and a couple nights that dropped to 25° F. This plant was killed to the ground from these temperatures, but it reprouted, though it did not bloom at all that year.
