Pyrrosia lingua 'Cristata' (Crested Tongue Fern) - A unique cultivar of the Tongue fern. The 18-20 inch long and 2 inch wide thick, dark-green blades are held upon slender creeping rhizomes. Blade tips are several times irregularly forked (crested) with a slight twisting to the entire blade exposing the undersides covered in many small (1mm) round sori which are cinnamon colored. Slight twisting of the blades provide a great contrast from the green tops to the tan undersides.

Plant in morning, late afternoon sun or bright shade and water occasionally to regularly. Cold hardy to 0 degrees in the ground and into the 20s if potted in a container. For best results place in bright indirect light and fertilize throughout the warm months with fish emulsion.

We first received this plant from horticulturist Joe Seals in 2001. For more information on this species see our listing of Pyrrosia lingua 'Cristata'
