Plant in almost any type of soil in full sun. It is hardy to 10-15 F. Moist current references have this name synonymized with the common Nepeta racemosa that is native to the Caucasus, Turkey and northern Iran, or list it as a variety of this species. The name for the genus is the Latin name for Catnip and comes from a reference to Nepete, an ancient Etruscan city in what is now Nepi in the Province of Viterbo in western Italy.

We received this plant as Nepeta reichenbachiana in 1997 from California Flora Nursery in Fulton, California. Though it appears to be included in Nepeta racemosa we retained the name under which we originally received this neat little plant that we grew from 1998 until 2008.
