Aster x frikartii 'Mönch' (Monch Aster) - A beautiful and adaptable perennial that grows to about 2 feet tall and holds clusters of large light blue flowers in the summer and fall.

Best in full sun or part shade with regular watering in the summer to encourage bloom. Light blue flower in summer-fall. Hardy to <0 degrees F. Rated down to USDA zone 5 (-10 to -20 °F).

Aster x frikartii is an old hybrid that resulted from an artificial cross by Swiss plant breeder Carl Ludwig Frikart between the European Michaelmas-daisy, Aster amellus and, Cordiofontis flexuosa from northeastern Pakistan to Nepal, a plant that was formerly placed in the genus Aster. With the one plant reclassified this bigeneric hybrid is now called × Cordiaster frikartii 'Mönch'. We grew this nice perennial from 1994 until 2013.
