Euphorbia 'Big Yellow' (Yellow Crown of Thorns) - This succulent plant is a robust yellow flowered (technically bracts) form of the crown of thorns. It grows upright to about 3 -4 feet tall with thick spine-edged stems. It does well in frost-free gardens with good drainage. It is very drought tolerant. Protect from temperatures much below freezing (our plants have withstood 28° F for short durations). We received this plant from the Plant Conservatory, a Malibu California Nursery that closed its doors in the 1990's. We have never determined the actual cultivar name on this big beauty. Similar to Hummel's hybrid 'Giant Christ-thorn' but with yellow bracts. Great for large containers or in a succulent garden.
