Canna 'Stuttgart' - Tuberous perennial with bold lime-green foliage splashed with irregular white stripes. Small salmon-colored flowers sit atop this beauty from spring on into fall. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Moderate water needs and grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet tall. A great foliage plant in spring but tends to foliage-burn in summer, even in the shade. Still looks great from a distance. The reason for this leaf burn is a hot topic with Canna growers and while there seems to be no clear cut answer most believe it is caused by environmental factors such as not enough or too much moisture, growing in too much sun, nutrient deficiencies, or salts in the soil. It has also been suggested by a Marty Harper of Weird Dude's Plant Zoo in Staunton Virginia that the cause is the fungal disease Pythium and that treatment with a fungicide can alleviate the problem.
