Scabiosa columbaria is a widespread species found in grasslands, savannas, and rocky slopes from South Africa north to Ethiopia, northern Africa, Europe, and western Asia. The cultivar 'Pink Mist' is a color mutation from the propular Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue'. It was selected at Walberton Nursery in West Sussex, England, from a number of naturally occurring mutations of 'Butterfly Blue' and received US Plant Patent PP8,957 in October 1994, which has since expired. We grew this plant from 1997 until 2002.

The information displayed on this page about Scabiosa columbaria 'Pink Mist' is based on our research conducted about this plant from books in our nursery library as well as from information that is provided by reliable online resources.
