Nymphaea 'Fabiola' (Aquatic) (Hardy Waterlily) - This waterlily has green leaves with bronzy new growth and 6 to 7 inch wide peony to cup shaped flowers that are a clear pink with good fragrance. The plant will spread 2 to 4 feet across. This waterlily is very free flowering and is perfect for medium to large pools. It takes full sun and is hardy to 15 degrees F. Much confusion exists regarding synonyms for this plant and we are not absolutely sure of the true identity of our plant. Fabiola is an old waterlily cultivar that was hybridized in 1913 ( (Latour-Marliac) and sold in England for many years but synonyms that have apparently been misapplied include Nymphaea 'Mrs. Richmond' (Latour-Marliac, 1910) and the cultivar 'Odorata Luciana' (Dreer, c.1899) also known as 'Luciana' and 'Pink Beauty', have been sold as 'Fabiola' for many years in the US. We first purchased our plants in 1988 from McAllister Water Gardens.

The information displayed on this page about Nymphaea 'Fabiola' (Aquatic) is based on our research conducted about this plant from books in our nursery library as well as from information that is provided by reliable online resources. We also have included our own observations made about it as it grew in the nursery gardens and other gardens visited, as well how the crops of this plant performed in the containers when we had them in our nursery field. We also include comments received from others and welcome hearing from anyone who has information about this plant, particularly if it includes cultural information aiding others to better grow it.

We closed for regular business at the end of 2025 in order for the property to be developed for affordable housing.
Our gates remain closed but we will open them by appointment to interested parties through August 21st to liquidate remaining plants, supplies and equipment.
The plants remaining in the field are listed on our
Live Inventory Page.
