Arenga engleri (Formosa Sugarpalm) - This is a clumping palm with several short trunks that grow to 10 feet tall. The leaflets on the feather-like leaves are narrow at the base and grow gradually wider to the tip of the leaves. The leaflets with their silvery underside have several notches along the edges. Plant in full sun with regular watering. It can tolerate temperatures down to about 32 degrees. We sold this interesting palm at our nursery from 1993 unil 2007.  This description is based on our research and observations made of this plant as it grows in our nursery, in the nursery garden and in other gardens that we have visited. We will also incorporate comments received from others and always appreciate getting feedback of any kind from those who have some additional information about this plant, in particular if this information is contrary to what we have written or if they have additional cultural tips that would aid others in growing Arenga engleri.
