Asplenium bulbiferum (Mother Fern) - This fern gets to about 2 feet tall by 3 to 4 feet wide with arching fronds with light green leaves and black stems. The leaflets are finely cut two to three times. It is called the Mother Fern because it produces plantlets on its leaves which drop off and start growing into new plants. It is susceptible to snail and slug attacks. It loves the shade and ample water. Hardy to 26 F.  This description is based on our research and observations made of this plant as it grows in our nursery, in the nursery garden and in other gardens that we have visited. We also try to incorporate comments received from others and appreciate getting feedback of any kind from those who have additional information about this plant, particularly if they disagree with what we have written or if they have additional cultural tips that would aid others in growing Asplenium bulbiferum.
