Iris PCH hybrid 'Lavender' (Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris) - This Pacific Coast hybrid Iris features lavender flowers with darker lavender veins and a golden throat. The clumps of tough evergreen foliage grows to 18 inches and spreads to 2-3 feet. Flowers in spring. Plant in cool sun to light shade with occasional summer watering. As with other Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris, plant in a light acidic soil in full sun (coastal only), light shade, morning or late afternoon shade and water sparingly in coastal areas and more regularly inland. Plants are hardy to 15-20 degrees F or slightly lower for short duration. Transplanting or dividing and replanting should be done in December. In heavy alkaline conditions often found in southern California soils the addition of peat moss, soil sulfur and with very heavy soils gypsum is recommended.
The description above is based on our research and observations of this plant growing in our nursery, in our own garden and in other gardens in the Santa Barbara area. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has additional information about this plant, even if they disagree with what we have written.
