Regnellidium diphyllum (Aquatic) (Two-Leaf Water Clover) - Tender, aquatic perennial commonly known as the Two-Leaf Clover. Quick grower up to 6 inches high and spreading with glossy green, double leaves. There is a small, creamy green color at the center of the leaf and this is surrounded by a reddish hue that blends into the rest of the leaf. Shiny leaves move on the surface if placed near a waterfall or fountain. Can even grow in a stream of moving water! Water beads sparkle on the foliage. Place in water no deeper than 2 inches over the crown. In colder regions, allow to go dormant in a non-freezing location, but do not let the plant dry out. An exceptional pond plant. The specific epithet diphyllum means having two leaves.
The description above is based on our research and observations of this plant growing in our nursery, in our own garden and in other gardens in the Santa Barbara area. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has additional information about this plant, even if they disagree with what we have written.
