Acacia redolens 'Low Boy' (Prostrate Acacia) - A very low-growing acacia that is readily used as a groundcover, especially on slopes; grows to 1 foot tall and 15 feet wide. The dense plant is heavily branched and covered with narrow, gray-green leaves. Small yellow flowers appear in spring. Plant in full sun to light shade. Tolerant of drought and frost once established. Hardy to 20-25 degrees F. A cutting grown selection. The name Acacia comes either from the Greek word 'akazo' meaning "to sharpen" or from the Egyptian word 'akakia', a name given to the Egyptian Thorn, Acacia arabica. The specific epithet comes from the Latin word 'redolent' meaning "to give off a scent" for the fragrance of the plant.
