Pentas lanceolata 'Red' (Red Egyptian Star) - An evergreen shrub to 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. The emerald green, somewhat hairy, foliage is a good foil for the 4 inch wide clusters of small star-shaped red-colored flowers. Flowering occurs in profusion from spring through summer with some bloom nearly all year long. Prune in late winter to shape plant and deadhead flowers throughout the bloom season for continued rebloom. Use as a bedding plant, in the mixed border, in containers, or as a pot plant. Very attractive to butterflies. It is frost sensitive.  This description is based on our research and observations of this plant as it grows in containers at our nursery, in our own garden and in other gardens. We also appreciate receiving feedback of any kind from those who have additional information about this plant, particularly if they disagree with what we have written or have additional cultural tips that would aid others growing Pentas lanceolata 'Red' .
