Melaleuca linariifolia (Flax Leaf Paperbark) - This is a quick-growing, dense small tree or shrub to 30 feet tall by 20 feet wide. It has smooth and soft, dark green leaves to 1 1/2 inch long. In its juvenile stage the branches are willowy in appearance; at maturity the crown becomes umbrella-like. The white bark is soft, spongy and peels in strips. Small, white bottle-brush-type flowers appear in summer. It is hardy down to 20 degrees F.  This description of this plant is based on our research and our observations of it growing at the nursery, in our own garden and in other gardens. We always appreciate receiving feedback of any kind from those who have any additional information about this plant, particularly if they disagree with what we have written or have additional cultural tips that would aid others growing Melaleuca linariifolia .
