Dioon edule (Cycad) - This is a slow growing cycad with 3 to 5 foot long feathery frond-like foliage. New growth is a soft blue-gray maturing to shiny green. Foliage arches out of a half foot wide and three feet tall trunk. It can achieve 8 feet in height and 6 feet in spread. Male and female cones are produced at maturity on separate plants, dioecious. It does its best in part sun. Water regularly. It is hardy to at least 18 degrees F.  This description is based on research and observations of this plant as it grows in our nursery, in our nursery garden and in other gardens that we visit.
