Eucalyptus nicholii (Willow Peppermint) - This is a weeping selection with a spreading crown that grows to 25-40 feet tall and 20-30 feet wide. The evergreen narrow, pendulous leaves smell like peppermint. The reddish-brown bark is deeply grooved. It does poorly in wet soils ( needs good drainage). It is hardy to about 12° F.
The description above is based on our research and observations of this plant growing in our nursery, in our own garden and in other gardens in the Santa Barbara area. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has additional information about this plant, even if they disagree with what we have written.
